What it is
The National Tax Agency assigns a corporate number to every registered company. Unlike the personal My Number, it is public and free for anyone to use.
- Assigned automatically after your company registration — no application needed
- If you registered through the online one-stop service, the notice arrives there on the day or the next business day
- Otherwise a notice is posted to your registered head office about two business days after registration

How do I get a corporate number in Japan?
It is assigned automatically after your company is registered. A notice arrives at your registered head office about two business days later, or online if you used the one-stop service.
Is the Japanese corporate number secret?
No. Unlike the personal My Number, the corporate number is published with the company’s name and address and anyone can use it.
Can I show my company name in English on the corporate number site?
Yes. You can register an English name and address on the National Tax Agency’s Corporate Number Publication Site.
